S1E3: Powerplant Superfood Cafe

Powerplant Superfood Cafe was one of the first restaurants I researched while compiling my list of potential places to film Nutrihunt episodes at. The restaurant itself is the epitome of a hole in the wall, with their robust vegan menu, smoothie options, and location which immediately caught my eye. My first conversation with the owner, Cynthia, was nothing short of pleasant. Her enthusiasm about working together only solidified that filming at her restaurant was an absolute must.

Cynthia is originally from the state of Georgia, so there is no question that she brings southern hospitality to everyone who steps inside (and outside, because of, you know, Covid) her restaurant. Her contagious energy uplifts you, and a similar feeling is a result after eating the food at her restaurant.

The two entrees featured in the episode are the Vegan Pesto Burger and the Springtime Green Plate. Boy oh boy are these meals delicious and nutritionally potent! Both my special guest, Shawn, and I were blown away with how tasteful they are. While becoming a registered dietitian, I studied the drastic shift of vegan options in recent years, and Cynthia is significantly contributing towards that positive shift with her entire menu being 100% vegan. Without a doubt, I implore anyone to try either of these dishes if you want an immense surprise in taste and nutrition.

Powerplant Superfood Cafe is relatively close to The La Brea Tar Pits, The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), and The Grove. Even if you are near West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Downtown Los Angeles, or Culver City, the restaurant is within driving distance - that is if the 10 or the 101 are cooperating. If you find yourself in these locations, and are on the hunt for some powerfully nutritious and tasty vegan food, be sure to visit Cynthia at Powerplant Superfood Cafe!
